Patinter present at the presentation of the new toll model for former SCUTS motorways

Patinter was present at the public presentation of the new toll regime for the former SCUT motorways — a government initiative aimed at promoting territorial cohesion and strengthening the competitiveness of companies operating in the country’s interior regions.

The proposal, presented by the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure, Pedro Marques, introduces toll reductions of 17% during the day and 28% at night on seven interior motorways for heavy goods vehicles. These conditions become even more advantageous for companies based in low-density territories and employing at least 50% of their workforce from local residents — as is the case with Patinter. In such cases, discounts increase to 47% during the day and 64% at night.

The session took place at the A25 service station in Mangualde and was attended by Pedro Polónio on behalf of Patinter. He highlighted the positive impact of the measure:
"This measure will promote territorial cohesion. Ideally, there would be no tolls at all and the motorways we rely on would be free, but this step alone already represents progress," he emphasised.

This initiative is part of the National Programme for Territorial Cohesion (PNCT) and the National Spatial Planning Policy Programme (PNPOT), and is intended to encourage companies to establish themselves in the interior and support the economic development of these regions.

According to Minister Pedro Marques, the new policy could lead to an estimated saving of 12 million euros for companies, encouraging greater use of interior motorways and improving the efficiency of freight transport.

Patinter welcomes this initiative and reaffirms its commitment to the sustainable development of interior regions — areas in which the company has always believed, invested and grown since its foundation.
